Powder Coating and Paint

What is powder coating?

Custom powder coating is a process that is often used to customize aftermarket wheels. Powder coating is a type of coating that is applied as a dry, fine powder and then cured under heat to create a durable and long-lasting finish.

How is it applied?

The process of custom powder coating wheels begins with the preparation of the wheel. This typically involves cleaning the wheel to remove any dirt, grime, or other contaminants, as well as sandblasting or abrasive blasting the surface to create a rough, consistent surface for the powder to adhere to. Once the wheel is prepared, it is time to apply the powder coating. This is done using a spray gun that applies the powder evenly over the surface of the wheel. The wheel is then placed into an oven or curing chamber where the powder is heated to a high temperature, typically around 400-450 degrees Fahrenheit. As the powder cures, it bonds to the surface of the wheel and forms a hard, durable finish. The end result is a wheel with a custom finish that is resistant to scratching, chipping, and fading.

Why should you powder coat your wheels?

Custom powder coating is a popular choice for aftermarket wheels because it allows for a wide range of color and finish options. It is also a more durable and long-lasting option compared to traditional paint finishes.
